Whims and fancies

She's sure to have a not so good day if she doesn't hear my voice, or so she tells me. Hence, the one call (sometimes more) a day routine. I've so gone used to it that I can't imagine a day without hearing her voice either.
Enquire about what she wants more than anything, and she'll always have the same answer: "I want you to be here with me". And she's quite stubborn about it.
Ask her what she'd like for her birthday and she'll say, "I'd cherish your presence. Or maybe you can write to me... it's been a while since you've done that. No gifts. "
She has got to know about everything that goes on in my life, she has the right to nag me when she feels I've asked for it, and she loves threatening me every now and then that she'll fly down to Pune!
She'll worry herself sick when I'm out doing something which she feels is life-threatening... which is pretty much everything that I take up. Sighs!
Hard to count how many sleepless nights she has spent in the past 23 years thanks to me.
Very seldom has she been taken seriously but quite a few times her feelings have been hurt. (Damn, do I feel guilty or what!!)
The perfect mediator... till date, she has always stepped in between whenever it was called for.
Someone who has always motivated me (even if at times it meant indiscriminate comparison with others), she has been terribly upset at my failures and utterly joyous at my triumphs (though I haven't given her many reasons to rejoice), and she has been with me all along the way.
The thing that gives me the greatest pleasure is lying down with my head on her lap, and well just lying like that...
She has always had me amazed with her stamina, her managerial skills, her simplicity et al.
She recently turned 45 and is still the prettiest woman around (No I'm not biased, I tell you :))
I always have a feeling I love her and Dad both equally, but then I also have a feeling that I love her a tad bit more.
I might be up to my neck in work (so much so that I haven't been able to read The Deathly Hollows that I have in my posssession) but I seriously had to post this in her honor...
Mumma, can't imagine life without you! *Muaaaahhhh*

Of miracles

The place where I live, Prakrtii Apartments, Pune, has a horde of kids... and very cute, lively and chubby little ones at that too :) Just the sight of them running around all over the show, bursting with energy, screaming and yelling, makes me feel old! On top of that, just because they've seen me chatting with their parents, and also I'm quite tall, they think I'm Uncle Steve... sheesh! The first time I heard that 5-letter word appended to my name, I swear I rushed home and messed up my hair searching for any stray strand of white hair :D! But that was way back in standard eighth. Ahem. Anyway experiences come in handy. A harmless landslide doesn't take much time to evolve into an avalanche, but the former does prepare you for what's in the waiting :)
Despite this aging process, I take immense pleasure in one fact...grow up in body, we might, but deep down inside, we're still a bunch of kids. And I realize this every now and then, thanks to all the grown-up kids mooching all over the place. Not really the return to innocence, but still. Invention of antics ceases to amaze me.
All said and done, it felt great to watch the excitement with which everyone of us looked forward to watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. People literally kept screaming out the names of the characters, the magical creatures, etc. Potter mania is surely in the air. Things will only intensify with the release of the seventh book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows next week. Oh how I wish it has something different to offer from what we've already read in the alleged spoof.

As if 5 days in front of the comp ain't enough, I seem to visit the cyber cafe on weekends too. Though I convince myself that the motive for the visit is different from what it might seem to be, I hardly believe myself. Whatever.

Another week has gone by, and boy! Is time moving fast or what! In for loads of work so cya when I cya.

Bad habits die hard... procrastination, for instance.
This post should've been published quite some time back...
Once again I shall escape (or atleast I think I shall) with a procrastinator's favorite phrase, "Better late than never"!

As Bir Das (of News on the Loose fame) is fond of saying, "It has been an interesting week (the last week obviously)".
Lots of work without any feedback or acknowledgement, and in the end a mid-year appriasal with screwed up grades. Sometimes I wonder whether working here is really worth it. When you expect a lot after putting in lots of efforts, and in the end you end up with "Meeting the expectations" grade, frustration is but expected. To top it all, you land a better grade for the extracurrics... sheesh! Talk about adding insult to injury.
The time spent at office last week is all a blur, save for some nice moments. At home, we were back to the stoneage. No electricity till Saturday. Phone discharged... missed Wimbledon...

The weekend was entirely different though. Found a temporary solution to the electricity problem. Spent the day roaming around as the rain God had mercy on Puneites and all that needed to be braved was a drizzle. Then the evening... words fail me but I'll try nonetheless. An awesome dinner with lots of talk and just getting lost in time, followed by the sexy ride to the multiplex.
Now comes the best part... catching the 11 PM show of HR's movieee :D I thought that our group would be the only 5 people to catch the show (I even imagined people jeering at us and passing comments on us) but turns out that hordes of people, young and old, were already there! Hype can work wonders! Lucky me, now I will not be the last person on the surface of this planet to have not watched this awesome showcase of budding talent! LOL. Ahem. Go watch it, or you'll be the odd one out :p And don't have great expectations... it's not a blockbuster but also isn't like some of the shit masqueraded as movies that I've watched.

After sleeping at half past 3 on Sunday morning, wrote the mock test in a daze, but I was way too happy to let the crappy performance affect me. It happens na that sometimes come what may, you retain your good mood (even bad mood at times) and it takes a lot to change that. The cuppa and that freshly roasted, delicious corn cob... the slight drizzle... the awesome final which Nadal should've won (he definitely outplayed Fed-ex and his loss was very depressing)... weekends are so cool!

That was what last week was about... two days into the new week and the romantic mood persists... and with good reason. Worklessness leading to long hours spent over the phone, gchat and at the mailbox, half of the time communicating with people in the adjoining cubicles. Sighs. But certain things are taking an ugly turn, and waiting for developments. Funny, it is, this blend of good mood and being a sourpuss :S

The feeling of suffocation by sitting indoors is too much to bear... I guess I'll go outside and have some fresh air.

Lost for words

Why is life so like a sinusoidal wave?
