A belated Happy Anniversary post!

Hand in hand :)

Oh well! What difference does a few days' delay make to a couple who has lovingly spent the last 27 years of their lives together?!
I know how the above line makes the Wish on Blog ritual seem like a formality, but I must do what I've been doing :p

Happy Anniversary, Mumma and Dada! I know it would've been awesome had I been with you both on your special day, but that's coming up soon... anyway, isn't each and everyday that I get to spend with you guys special in its own way?! ;)
That I chose to attend the marriage ceremony of a beautiful couple, the foundation of whose love story is much like yours, and who in fact tied the knot on the same day as you both did almost 3 decades ago, gave me the feeling that I didn't miss a thing! Add to that, the bonanza of reliving old memories of our times spent in good ol' Cal... really wish you three were there with me...

Sentiments apart, going strong, folks! Very proud of you two... the way you both are surging ahead, a golden jubilee and a diamond jubilee seem like ordinary milestones down the road that you'll simply breeze past :)
Some example you guys have set in terms of commitment, dedication et al... in today's world, everything pales in comparison to it! If any such terms do exist in today's date, their definitions have either been mellowed down or do not exist... except probably in the rarest of rare cases!

If I ever write a book, I'm sure I'd do great business if I start off with your Love Story... totally out of this world it is! :)
Happy Anniversary again!!

Loads of love, hugs, kisses and best wishes,
Appu

High-Five-Five!

Dearest Dada,

I've been wracking my brain for the past two weeks, yet I seem to draw a blank!
It is so unlike me, but everything I come up with seems to be a repetition - a thought already typed out; an emotion already felt; a feeling already expressed; an adjective or an adverb already used; a blog post already published et al.
But when I think about it, I realize that it is because I've come to know you and understand you so very well, and love you and respect you so very much over the past 26 years... more than any son can probably aim to achieve out of the father-son relationship in a lifetime!
And now that we still have a major chunk of that lifetime lying in front of us, I smile to myself thinking of the wonderful happy times in store for this father-son duo!

It's a shock though to see time flying by at this crazy speed!
I'd give anything to be able to go back to the past by simply rewinding the clock... especially because I seem to be aging with each passing year, while you (and Mumma) seem to be becoming younger with each passing day! Not fair :)
Also, not fair is the fact that you bag all the limelight in my photo albums :p
I wonder who coined the term "old man" for one's father... doesn't apply in my case, no sir!

Without further ado and minus any senti talk, on this 22nd day of October, 2010, I want to wish you a very very happy 55th birthday, Dandila!
If you don't already know, you're the bestest dad in the whole wide universe of galaxies!
Needless to say, I'm the luckiest son on the surface of this planet! ;)

Loads of love, hugs and kisses,
Appu

My Hero!

It's strange how things change with time:
Long long back, during our family walks, he'd tower over me, and I'd easily wriggle through the A-shaped gap that his long legs made.

And now I'm just a tad bit shorter than him...

But then it's nice how some things remain constant.
I looked up to him then, both figuratively and literally.
And I still look up to him now... I always will :)

I still remember the times when, as a kid, I loved drawing, and each and every sketch had to be approved by him, the awesome artist!
Yep, it was disappointing how none of my drawings ever met his expectations.
As a kid, I never appreciated the criticism and the constructive feedback, but that's what helped me grow... it helped me improvise...

I used to be a slouch. A very thin, awkward one at that. Damn, I used to think the word "Personality" would never be applicable to me.
He changed all that.
The thumping took care of the slouchiness... the induced habit of working out changed the rest. The constant feedback kept everything in check... almost :)
He's the man behind the making of this man...

It's funny how scared I used to be of him...
A bit of scolding from him, or even a hint of it, and my eyes would well up with tears!
One mistake, one goof up, one crime, and I'd cringe at the thought of his discovering it!
And now, we're like best buddies...

There used to be one day per week when he donned the chef's hat... and we so looked forward to it! No offense meant to our favorite cooker :)

I usually hate getting sidelined in the pics which I upload. But when it's him who steals the limelight, I feel very proud! :))

And then, there are some things which I do, his reactions to which give me the feeling that I've made him proud.  Priceless moments that make life seem worth living :)

He has been my inspiration, my role model for anything and everything... be it work-life balance, or financial expertise, lovingness, planning for the future, fitness, or his command over life in general. Respectttt!

In early 2008, when I appeared for my Symbi interview, the first of many PIs in my life, a very interesting episode happened.
Excerpts:
Panelist: Ok Steve! So tell me, who's your hero? The person who's your idol?
Me: My father. (And I almost started off with an explanation that needed no preparation...)
Panelist: No blood relations please. Some famous personality.
Me: Sorry sir. No other idols. And I don't want to parrot away any made up answers...

That sums it up.
He's my hero! The perfect man.
And I so aspire to be like him one day... :)

Happy Father's Day, Dada!
You're the best! Love you a lot!!

The Return to Innocence :)

Today felt like one of those many summer vacations of the yesteryears when our entire family used to visit different tourist destinations... only sad part was that the apple of all our eyes wasn't with us today :(

Today's Agra trip worked out pretty well... and I really felt like the little Appu who used to go walkie-walkie oucchiide with Dada and Mumma

Despite the crazy heat, the parents and I had such a lovely time!
And it wasn't only me who was feeling a lot younger... Mumma as usual was her bubbly self :) Dada too for a change got into his masti mood!

Felt so awesome capturing these moments

Oe oe! Kya jodi hai *whistles* :)

Child, Woman and Man :)

If only Dada too showed his teeth like Mom, Sweety and I do :D

Made for each other

Awww shucks! Simply love this pic :)

Symmetry is what I see at a glance :)

The ending wasn't that great... Indian Railways truly sucks! But thank God nothing could dent such a wonderful outing!
Too bad I had to race back to college for a process tomorrow... have to be off to Gurgaon at 7 AM!!
Similar process the day after tomorrow :'(
What a life! Won't even be able to see of my folks on Tuesday *SIGH*

Back in college, roaming around the campus with the gang was fun... extra fun courtesy Sippu who donned that Monster mask and scared the living daylights out of many a people!!! Best part was his stroll through the library in that mask!!! LOL!

Anyway time to hit the sack... too tired! Physically and mentally exhausted.
Fingers crossed for the lack of any Monday blues!
Good night!
