What next?

Ok, it's official.
I'm done with college. For Good.
On the lines of the Raymond ads, I'm now The Complete Man(agement Graduate) :D

The long wait was worth it.
I got all that I had wanted: A combo of an awesome employer and a sexy job profile; a posting in NCR; happiness for my family members and friends; and making peace with myself.
Yep! I bagged it all :))

Leaving on a jet plane soon... But I do know when I'll be back again!
Home sweet home... finally! Yippee!

The future now looks good... and things are falling into place so well, like all the scattered jigsaw puzzle pieces falling into place automatically *touch wood*
Some puzzles are too puzzling though...
I told someone that I hate changes, and despite all the lines I got to hear in favor of changes, I know that the person shares my feelings on changes to some extent... sme sme you see... :)
Let's see what these changes entail...

Formally closed yet another chapter with a nice ending, but an ellipsis at the end... some good parts of this chapter would spill over to all the forthcoming chapters, I'm sure!
Amen.
Bring it on! B)

It's gonna be worth it!

This waiting for the right thing isn't bad at all...
Today was a looong day: got up at 6 AM after 2 hours of sleep; hit the road at 7 AM; reached Chattrapur at 9:15 AM (painful journey); day long placement process which ended at 7 PM (!!); the vehicle breaking down on the way back; and finally, the longer than long journey home!

But the company, pursuing which this entire day was spent is an awesome firm named ARI World! Had read a lot about simulation, simulators et al, but witnessing the company's various simulators up close was such a treat!!
The maritime simulator, in particular, made me go WOW! How advanced can technology get!!
Add to that virtual reality, and I was transported back to the Johnny Quest days!
The process went off smoothly, and the campus was lovely!
The profile on offer is a dream job: a marketing profile for such hi-tech products!
*fingers crossed for a convert*
After a while, the wait seems to be worth it... hope some more nice profiles and companies show up soon...

The drive back to campus, though marred by engine breakdown and wrong turns, was totally fun thanks to the ebullience of Aman, Riju and Swati! Aweseome memories these are too :D

No matter how tired I am at the end of the day, conversing with loved ones is such a stress buster! Love you all :))

Off to sleep early today...
And I plan to not move a single muscle tomorrow... after early morning gym, that is :P
Gunnyt!

Being different

Ok, I've been shortlisted for 8 Group Discussions so far, I have been called for 2 Personal Interviews (for 2 really awesome firms) and yet I'm unplaced. Big deal!

Not even 3 days since placements started and everyone's desperate to get placed... append "anywhere" and you know how desperate! But can't blame them!

Anyway, the placement scene is much better this time, over 170 of our awesome batch placed in less than 3 days! And some people can certainly afford to pick and choose... though not many are too keen to :s

Comparisons are being made; people are complaining and whinging about their "undeserving" 'friends' getting selected while they are left out in the cold; tensions are running high; shortlists are at times being criticized either as "long lists" or for being too damn short; half buried regrets are surfacing, or new ones are not getting buried at all!
That is the placement week for you :P Yet another reality check that life has to offer!

Oh well! I somehow am immune to all that's happening here... it's probably a disease! On second thoughts, it has probably got something to do with my upbringing (My family members are a bunch of optimists and "Everything happens for the best" believers :) )
And after getting an assurance from my parents that they're not worried at all, and it's fine with them if I wait for the right company rather than blindly opting for any damn company, I'm like totally happy!
Let's just hope the good companies keep showing up... sooner or later I'm sure to find an ideal match (pun intended :P)

And hey! I hate comparisons, but I noticed that I'm way to different from many of my friends! Wow!! A PoD (that's point of difference, for those ignorant about marketing concepts!)...

Finally, a recommendation: Do watch Rocket Singh: The Salesman of The Year... totally awesome movie, and a must watch for sales people and aspiring marketers! :)

The Week!

Ever get the feeling that you're aboard the sinking Titanic, there are unlimited people who're scrambling for the limited lifeboats, the water you're slowly sinking into is shit cold and you don't know how to swim?!?!

And to think of it, everyone made a mad rush to get aboard this Titanic too, the future be damned. Funny how life allows you to draw so many parallels...

I try and try to keep the negativity out, but it somehow creeps in!

I'm sure I'll look back at all of this some years down the line and laugh my head off... just like I look back at the initial cribbing we did at DA-IICT, and wonder how wrong we were. It's more like life gives us chance after chance to make the same mistakes, and we welcome these with open arms :D

Yesterday at about 3 AM, Randheer, Sunita and I were sitting on one side of the Amphitheater observing the alumni who were having a nice time on the other side enjoying their 10 year reunion! And we were talking about how 10 years later, on Dec 12, 2019, we'll be sitting at their other side of the amphi :) If not for the college, at least for friends...

That, of course, is for later... in the meantime, the forms and the PPTs beckon!

Good luck for THE WEEK, fellow IMTians :)

It's that time of the year again...

It's that time of the year again, when negative emotions run high...
Maybe the placements are responsible, or maybe it's the Delhi winters... no, I guess the placements can be given their due!
Happy-go-lucky folks seem to have given up everything to just crib crib crib... I actually have to pick and choose the friends I actually want to hangout with!

Negativity is infectious, the worst disease and it spreads like wildfire!
I love my Mom for repeating a statement I so very often scoffed at: Everything happens for the best. I have to remind myself the same at least 3 times a day :P

Ok, maybe not everything happens for the best, but whinging non-stop is definitely not the solution! Glad to have the gym and badminton (2 activities that I resumed of late)... the best catharsis :)

Hope the placements go fine, and everyone lands a nice job! Signing off...
