Is it worth it?!
Last week, I met a friend studying in a prominent B-school.
Matter-of-factly, he mentioned a case of his batchmate who suffered a mental breakdown there. The student was discovered with his wrists sliced, and his parents came to take him away.
After apparently recovering, the student returned for the placement season, but bang in the middle of a company's group discussion selection process, he lost it again... he stood up right there and started yelling.
Yep, he was escorted out of there, and sent home.
No happily ever after here.
This batchmate of mine also happens to be one of my best friends.
Just a couple of hours back, it felt awesome seeing him so pumped up for the placement process of a company, in the group discussion of which he had apparently outshined the crowd.
2 hours later, I stared at my computer screen in shock... only his name was missing on the list of shortlisted candidates! WTF! This despite other candidates in his group affirming the fact that he put forth really good points...
I visited his room and talked to him... apparently, and as expected he was very upset.
On the suggestion of another dear friend, I gave him a huggiepie. And sure enough, it did the trick... he could hold back his tears no longer.
Tears shed in frustration, not anger. Tears shed in helplessness, not anguish.
And I felt so sad.
Life these days is just like running a race which has no finish line... keep running till you either get tired or fall dead on the track.

Reunions unlimited!
Of late, a nostalgia wave is evident amongst the DAIICTians, class of 2006!
I thought I'd help upgrade it to a nostalgia tsunami.
Facebook is flooded with batchmates sharing photographs of our yesteryears... the best part is the comments with follow!
It's almost 4 years since we got out of DA-IICT, yet its charm and the memories of our life there refuse to die down :)
While I was in Pune, the DAIICT feeling refused to die... for starters my 5 other flatmates were fellow DAIICTians, 2k6! Manjeet, Bhim, Aonu, Aditi, Manabesh, Ankit (LKP, Rathi, Spinny, Pavan, Vind inititally) were there too. Add the Mumbai gang, and it was hard to not feel like DAIICT reloaded with them around :P
At IMT, there are quite a few DAIICTians. We're everywhere, aren't we now?!
Had a proper and grand batch reunion in Mumbai, early in 2009, when I was visiting Mumbai. Didn't expect such a huge turnout, and it was so much fun :)

Random ramblings
How come it's so easy to get addicted to people?
Deja vu.
By the way, started working on the strings... soon it'll be more than just cacophony!
Time just doesn't seem enough for the many things that are lined up... the earth should've been further away from the sun (more the radius of the orbit, more the number of days in completing one circle around the sun... thus more number of days in a year!) High funda?! I know :P
I sometimes amaze myself. Nightout the day before yesterday, followed by classes, a visit to Noida, sleeping before midnight (woah!), getting up at 7:30 AM (woah again!), and attending early morning classes (is this really me :p).
Been on a high since the year started *touch wood*
Sometimes you just don't need a reason to be happy... :)
Have so many things to look forward to :))

Of Adultery and One-sided love affairs...
Confession time. Forgive me if you can, sweetheart :(
Till yesterday I thought I was very faithful to her... but that myth ended today :'(
Well it was bound to happen sooner or later... our relationship is over 2 years old! And I was bound to look around here and there...
Ok, so I had thought that it'd last forever, but doesn't everyone think the same at the start?!
It used to be awesome before:
There was a time when I wouldn't let her out of my sight... every rendezvous with her was probably the most looked forward to event on my timetable!
Separation was truly unbearable and heart wrenching... I'd spend whole days at work whiling away time thinking about her, and come evening I'd rush to her!
I very clearly remember how I'd always rush back to her, embrace her, and we'd go out together...
Initially guys nearby would look on with envy, and gals would snigger at this bond we shared, but eventually everyone realized that she were made for me ;)
Those were the days... these aren't! Sighs!
Now things are different. We hardly go out together.
The way I see her has changed.
She used to be a beauty back then, everyone used to crane their necks for another good look at her. Now, let's just say that age has caught up with her :(
I don't know whether it's the depressing winter season or it's just me, but getting her to respond to me takes such a lot of time these days :'(
I don't know how true the research results for "Men are more likely to fling" are, but in my case it holds true in this context.
I had had enough of her nonsense, so I have started seeing other beauties!
So what if I'm indulging in one-sided love affairs?! There'll come a day when things will work out and I'd be with the one of my choice :)
In sheer desperation, I've been going out with some of the beauties my friends usually take out. Overnight trips to Delhi with them happen quite frequently. Desperate times, desperate measures!
Yesterday though was probably the first time that I've let my feelings be known publicly!
Thinking that I had found the perfect match for myself, in sheer pleasure I loudly pointed her out to everyone around, be it strangers or friends!
Almost everyone nodded their heads in approval, and seemed to say, "Good choice, dude"!
My friends, who are always frank and blunt with me on anything and everything, said to me "Abey saale, sapnon ki duniya se bahaar aaja... kahaan ye Harley Davidson Softtail Classic jo tu bas Auto Expos me dekha karega, aur kahaan teri khatara Pulsar"!
Sighhh friends! Leave it to them to jolt you out of a reverie!
For now, I guess it's back to her, my black beauty Pulsar 150 cc DTSi! Time to mend our relationship... and a few of her body parts too! :D

Of reunions and friends...
Graduated from DA-IICT way back in 2006... haven't yet gotten over that place :)
How can I anyway? There hasn't been a day since then on which I haven't met or come across someone from DA-IICT!
Us DA-IICTians, we're ubiquitous!
Saturday was another chapter of a small yet nice reunion... great that Priya suggested CP as the venue!
Standing by the inner circle I was awed by the pleasant climate! It was 2 in the noon, a teasing chill in the air, the moody breeze, the sun nowhere to be seen in the partial fog... in a couple of words, just amazing!
First meeting with Lavanya since Bangalore, and first meeting with Nemo after college! Ankit and Priya have been in touch a lot thankfully!
Lunched at Piccadelhi (reminded me of a bigger version of 11 East Street, Pune), then got some dessert packed at Wenger's Pasrty Shop!
Lolled around on the Palika Bazaar park lawn devouring the yummy pastries and mousses! Been ages since I visited a park this way... it was a weekend ritual back in the school days!
Next to Select Citywalk... the place never fails to impress! Hot Chocolate and unlimited gossip at The Coffee Bean was total fun :P
Funny how our topics of discussion these days revolve around relationships, breakups, marriage et al... so unlike the tension-free chit-chat of the good ol' days! What next?!
Great day all in all!
Best takeaway is that I'll be resuming my guitar classes after 4 long years under my guru, Nemo! Still remember the guitar mania in the last sem at DA-IICT! David Gilmour, here I come B)
Lectures start off on Sunday (yeah today!)... or maybe they started off on Saturday itself, and I didn't care a damn :D Hope I manage to attend the Sunday Mass in a couple of hours!
By the way, did I mention that I'm in a good mood?! Oh well, it's easy to figure it out when that's the case :)

Timepass
In the past week, I found lots of time for myself... feels good to be doing what I liked for a change!
Been blogging a lot. Facebook too. Old addictions resurface.
Isn't it fun to chat via messages and mails rather than by using Gtalk, YM et al? In the former, it's fun waiting in anticipation for the other person to reply.
Or maybe excess (ab)use of Gtalk has led to it being tagged "boring"...
Miss gymming, yet I'm not complaining... will start in a week or two!
Till then it's the blanket, the novels, hot tea or hot chocolate, music... and a few lectures :P
The foggy blanket that's been shrouding the campus of late combined with the severe cold makes walking around the campus at night such a pleasure...
Yesterday, I and 2 friends walked to and fro RDC (a roundtrip of 4+ kms)... the streets looked amazing, especially after a power cut!
I even tried getting lost in the foggy field, and what a feeling it was :)
Weekend starts tomorrow... going to meet a few DA-IICT chums at Connaught Place! Simply love that place!
Trimester 6, the last installment starts on Sunday... damn it's all gonna end very soon :(
Just received Mom-made rose cookies :) Totally yummy!

This is how I got Leh'd!!
With the 5th trimester having ended, and having a bit of free time in hand, I decided to finally put in words the 4-months old and 15 days long Dream Trip spanning Rohtang, Sarchu, Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, Amritsar et al :)

2010 ahoy!
Now that I look back, it seems as if the 365 days of 2009 passed by in a flash!
Saying that the days flew by would be doing injustice to the awesome year that 2009 was!
This was what I did in 2009 (and I really did do a lot of things!):
- On Jan 1, 2009, I was back home...
- Then came the seniors' final placements
- A sexy trip to Manali with the gang
- The SP Jain, Mumbai, sports meet... and the detour to Pune! And the grand DA-IICT reunion!
- A memorable trip to Agra and Fatehpur Sikri
- Chakravyuh 2009
- A month long project at adidas (Anchit and I will remember those days!)
- Farewell to the seniors and their convocation
- The wonderful summer internship at adidas
- The awesome stay at Mama's house in Delhi, and a cool Delhi summer (yep, ironical it is!)
- PDP for the newbies!
- Truckloads of parties
- First rains of 2009, and the fun in the field :P
- The 15 days long Dream Trip spanning Manali, Rohtang, Sarchu, Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, Amritsar et al... something I'll always feel proud and happy about having done B)
- The league of titans :)

Before you ask about my new year resolutions, let me inform you that one of them I've already broken by staying up till 6 AM :P So I'm planning to forget about the remaining too... save for regularly blogging or making diary entries! Which reminds me that I'm dead meat if I don't publish the Leh Trip posts soon!
